{"type":"root","children":[{"type":"paragraph","children":[{"type":"text","value":"Published by CIRCA on the occasion of Green Screen (2021), this time-limited edition by Sojung Jun reflects on one of the most heavily fortified borders in the world and the unexpected possibilities that have emerged within it. Drawing inspiration from the artist's landmark film of the same name, the work explores the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) not only as a symbol of division and unresolved conflict, but also as a site of imagination, transformation and ecological renewal.\n\nFilmed along the border separating North and South Korea, Green Screen emerged from Jun's research into the landscapes, histories and human experiences that exist around the DMZ. Largely untouched by human activity for more than six decades, the area has evolved into an unintentional wildlife sanctuary, a place where political separation and ecological regeneration exist side by side. Inspired by Mongyudowondo, a fifteenth-century Korean painting depicting a dreamlike journey through an idealised landscape, Jun reimagines the borderland as a space suspended between memory and possibility, reality and imagination.\n\nReleased alongside Green Screen, Jun's CIRCA commission presented in partnership with the Seoul Museum of Art and the Korean Cultural Centre UK, the edition formed part of a wider public project exploring coexistence, solidarity and the possibility of futures yet to arrive. Broadcast across public screens in London, Seoul and Tokyo, the commission invited audiences to consider how art might transcend ideological boundaries and create new ways of imagining collective life.
